Morocco, London to Imlil via Marrakech

Morocco, 09. December 2017

Day 1 - The day has arrived! We are heading to Morocco with our main aim of climbing mt Toubkal 4167m. We fly from Stansted airport in the morning but we first we need to get some sleep which is easier said than done on a cold floor in December. I managed a couple of hours Leanne not so much, her legs made a good pillow though! We arrived in Marrakech and after getting through security, currency exchange, a crazy taxi rank which pretty much ended up with Moroccan men grabbing us and our bags and shoving you in a vehicle, for 2 people who have never experienced that before was quite intimidating. They dropped us off a the main square but we weren't so sure, luckily for us the Sneddons who were now experts in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech saved the day and even carried our duffel bags for us to the Argana cafe where we had some yummy traditional Moroccan food before our taxi ride to Imlil high up in the Atlas Mountains, where we will be staying the night. We met with Mohamed our host for the evening and he kindly organised us a Mule to take our gear to his hostel in Aremd, which is the next village up the valley and another 180m in elevation, Leanne was very tired by this point after 32 hours on the go and Hussein our Muleteer saw this and allowed her to ride the Mule up to the hostel which she really enjoyed. We set out on our first day of trekking tomorrow and we can't wait but first of all bed time!
Thank you Mr & Mrs Sneddon
