Major disaster. On my way to Iolcus, a granny needed help to cross the river. Having been to a private school in Perth, I have been taught to always help the elderly, so of course I obliged. But, I lost my brand-new Birkenstock sandal. Honestly. Those things cost $250, and this pair was limited edition. Looks like I’ll have to get Mum to transfer me money for a new pair, because I can’t possibly go without my Birks. Anyway, back to the adventure. I rocked up at the palace, a crumbling old building (it was nearly as old as those weird buildings in Fremantle, and not even hipster!), and met with this Pelias guy. His reaction to me was so not what I was expecting. Like, I know I was missing a sandal and all, but why did he have to look so intimidated? Not like I was there to kill him or something. I asked Pelias how to get my free tour, and he told me that the only way was to rescue the Golden Fleece from the land of Colchis. Well. What is that, and where do I even begin?
Week 2
Okay, update on the “Quest For the Golden Fleece”: 50 supposed “Heroes” have offered to accompany me! I did check out their Linked Ins, and their experience was impressive. In addition, a guy called Argos made us a boat to travel on! I went to check it out before we depart tonight, and it’s even better than Dad’s yacht!! Zeus, who is apparently the most prominent god, gave me a brand-new gadget, Dodona, (kinda like a GPS copy of Siri, I guess. iPhones are still better though), which was supposed to help us navigate the rough and unknown waters ahead. I’d say that it will probably come in very handy.
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this trip anymore. I’m excited, but at the same time I’m terrified – apparently, the seas over here are a lot more treacherous than the stretch of Swan River in front of Claremont Yacht Club. Our first stop is Lemnos, so I’ll write more there.
