Once in Italy the roads were busy and uninspiring till we came to Lake Garda. Glimpses through the trees on the way to the campsite showed a promise of its splendour. We stocked up in a nearby village with copious amounts of alcohol and some food and headed for Camping Fornello.
A tad disappointing it has to be said on first impression. Maybe we were feeling a little tetchy in the scorching heat, but the friendly family run campsite from the website didn't feel too welcoming. The pitches are packed in tight and the sound of baby's crying is constant background music.
Still Gav managed to rustle up a tasty pasta and the Pinot Grigio was just cold enough to wash it down.
After eating we walked down to the Lake for a swim to cool down. The water was warm and the beach pebbly but to be swimming in Lake Garda with Gav on a hot summer evening in June, that was priceless.
