Day 97 6/5/18
After the course completed Lou and I checked out of the hotel and were picked up in our taxi to take us to our boat transfer back to Bali. I’d booked us to stay in an Airbnb. The crossing was fairly smooth and then we grabbed a taxi which eventually found our Villa. We were met by a lovely lady called Made who was a maid for the owner so that got a little confusing, plus the fact that she didn’t speak any English. Somehow I managed to communicate with her to ask her to make us some lunch and we retired by the poolside. It was lovely, private and very quiet. In the evening we managed to meet the owner (a lovely lady called Maki) who suggested we catch a Grab car to the beach area. We strolled around and found some very local seafood which we happily demolished between us and then walked back up through the bars until we eventually found Wi-fi and caught a Grab car back to the Villa.
Day 98 - 7/5/18
Lou’s last morning, we went out for a lovely breakfast although had to get a grab car to and from the place as it was too far to walk. Really lovely deli place, food was so good I bought a salad to takeaway for lunch. Got back to our Villa and we relaxed by the pool until Lou had to pack up and catch a taxi just before lunch. I went back to reading by the pool and then Maki asked me if I wanted to join her walking her dogs on the beach, so we headed off in her car with the three dogs. We walked along the beach and met some of her friends, she introduced me to a Russian girl, Sasha. Maki was going out for dinner with a friend but Sasha asked me if I wanted to join her for food so we headed into town for a bite to eat. Nice evening, managed to catch a grab back to the Villa. My last night in Bali...
Day 99 - 8/5/18
My last day, can’t believe it’s nearly time to fly home. Maki had booked to go to SUP Yoga Class and had asked me if I wanted to go along, we left around 8 and got to the beach and found my hire board whilst Maki got her board out that she keeps down on the beach. It was great fun, I paddled around a bit before the class started and I’m proud to say I didn’t fall off at all. The class was in Japanese for a small group of Japanese ladies, so very interesting for me. We finished the session and then a little bit more paddling around before we headed back to Maki’s place, I had time to shower and finish packing and then ordered my taxi to get me to the airport for my flight back to Kuala Lumpur. Everything fine and ended up at KL airport with lots of time to spare, went into one of the Loungers and then realised that I needed to get to the other terminal to catch my flight. Just a little bit stressful. Made it to the terminal and found the BA checkin desk, very tempted to upgrade my flight, I enquired and it would have cost £750. Decided to leave things as they were and pleasantly surprised to find that I’d been allocated a great seat in Prem Economy and we were flying on a 787! Very excited. Flight all on time and watched a number of movies but didn’t get a huge amount of sleep.
Day 100 - 9/5/18
Arrived back into T5 LHR at around 5.30, collected my bags and found a Cafe Nerro and waited for J, we were collecting a car from the airport (long story but car had to be in my name). We had a happy reunion in Cafe Nerro and then collected our hire car and then got on our way to Dartmouth where we are due to spend a few days before flying back to France. What an amazing trip, it now all seems very unreal but I’m thankful that I have this wonderful blog as a reminder of our time away.
