Moon Valley, San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Chile
Wherever you look Mt Lascar is in your view (5592 metres above sea level) - and yep - it’s an active volcano
Some pics of our trip to Valley de La Luna- if you do nothing in Atacama other than this- you’ ll be having a good time 😀😀
The entrance to Moon Valley/ Valle de la Luna
This apparently is the 3 Marys. From left, the profile of her looking to heaven, the middle- her head bowed in prayer, to the right- she is on her knees in worship… I think I need some of that Inca powder to see this properly
It’s a T- Rex innit- obvs!
Look at the sky! No- look at the landscape- bloody marvellous!
Me - with the T- Rex and Mary

One of us is enjoying and one of us isn’t- can you guess who is who?.?
Looking into the salt mine entrance
One of the bolt holes for explosives…. They sent kids in to set the explosives… down the road there is a cemetery for 800 kids. Who didn’t set anymore explosives. 😁
Dune picture- heading towards the moon/ mars
The salt mine workers’ residency- see the wall to the left? That hides the lav- all ok until you think you need a pee in the middle of the night and it’s minus 8!!
I walked here 😀
More of moon valley for the more intrepid ( that’s me apparently)
Yay! Top of the dune- the wind (and sand ) was whipping around here- cheapest exfoliation I’ve ever had!
To walk along the top and meet someone at the other end with Turkish delight
I amazing place to be - I can’t believe I walked here
It’s not snow
It’s like a set from the Martian

As the sun went down on the day, the temperatures plummet within minutes. Glad I have my woolies!
