Heraklion Gazi Crete

Greece
My love, Medea
(as close to Modern Day Colchis as possible)

I think I’m in love. Her name is Medea, and she was the first person I met on the island of Colchis. She caught my eye immediately- She was hotter than Pegasus Unicorn, the Perth Instagram model that spends half her time (and money) in Greece. With a glimmer of mischief in her eye, she took me to the Palace of Aeites, whom was less than happy to see me. (Later, this glimmer would prove to be more than mischief.) When I asked Aietes about the Golden Fleece, he became even unhappier, raging and yelling at me. Eventually, he demanded that I complete a set of challenges if I were to be able to walk away from here with the fleece. These challenges were legit harder than a WACE Physics exam; the chances of me passing were even slimmer. He demanded that I plow a field using fire breathing bulls, sow it with dragon teeth, and then kill the vicious serpent that guards the fleece itself. Plus, the dragon teeth grow into warriors that I also must defeat. Sounds a lot like I’m setting up my own death.

It was awkward at first, as Medea’s father is Aeites, the man hoping for me to die. But surprisingly, one night, she came onto the Argo bearing a bottle of Calvin Klein cologne (my favourite, btw). She started spraying it on me furiously, and I was so confused. But then she said it was like fire retardant, and that it would stop the bulls setting me alight. She also passed me a rock, and told me to throw it into the crowd of warriors. She didn’t tell me why, but I had to trust her. Medea said that after my trip, she wanted me to take her home to meet the parents. They probably won’t be too pleased at me becoming involved with someone over here, but I guess she is a princess so they can’t really complain.

Omg! I made it! That cologne really worked. I sprayed even more over myself before I went to the bulls, and their flames could not have been more useless. I was so scared at first, but once I realised I was basically untouchable, I just kept on going, and before I knew it I had made it to the end. Then, as the warriors began cropping up, I tossed the stone into their midst and watched in disbelief as they began to attack one and other rather than me. I ran away from them all and back into Medea’s arms, ready to go back to Aietes and demand the fleece.

I probably should have known better than to take Aietes word that he would give me the fleece. Turns out he was just stringing me along. Wish I could get Dad to sue him, but he isn’t here. Medea is proving to be a lot more useful than any lawyer could ever be, though. She is going to help me steal the fleece and escape from the island with the rest of the Argonauts.

As I approached the fleece, I could hear Medea’s enchanting singing floating through the air. The never-sleeping serpent lay guarding the fleece, and as Medea’s singing picked up, i watched his eyelids begin to droop. 10 minutes later, I decided to make a break for it. I had grabbed the fleece and turned around, waiting for Medea to come out of her hiding place, when my phone rang. It was a Perth number but as tempted as I was to pick up, I had awoken the serpent!!!!!! Medea and I sprinted towards the Argo, all too aware of the raging Aeites and his men behind us.
