Venice

Italy
Fusina camping site was an ideal base for visiting Venice. Situated at the ferry terminal we pitched at the waterside and could see Venice across the water. Loads of cruise ships anchored up dwarfing the city in their magnitude and the huge cargo ships passed so closely you could get a real sense of their immense bulk and power.

The ferry to Venice was €13
each return and the city was all it promised and more. Though crowded with tourists and a bit smelly in places it still held its magic and we wandered round in awe at the spectacle of wonders at every turn.
The Gondola ride was brief and expensive but had to be done.
The palace of the Doges was fascinating especially being able to walk through the bridge of sighs.
Lunch sat on a verandah overlooking a canal near the Carabinieri was peaceful and romantic.
