Day 28 - 22/2/18 Exploring LP Day 2
Yoga at 7.30, this time with a local teacher at Utopia, I hadn’t noticed all the bomb shells everywhere before, check out the plant pot! The class was a lovely Vinyasa class whilst watching the sun rise... met an English couple who we’ll see again on Monday hopefully.
Next back at the hotel for a chaotic, surprise breakfast (you never got what you ordered), then we walked to where all the tuktuk’s congregated and negotiated the trip to Kuang Si Waterfalls (50,000 Kip each), I wasn’t expecting the Bear’s! Basically there’s a conservation charity operating by the Falls... blown away by Deng the 3 legged Moon Bear....They have to keep the bears in captivity because they were being poached and used for their bile - need to find out why but suspect it is some dodgy Chinese aphrodisiac!
The Waterfalls were also stunning but the hundreds of other tourists (which I’ve miraculously been able to exclude from my photo’s) weren’t.
Got dropped back in LP around 3 and both of us had a body scrub and massage booked between 4-6 at Silver Nagas Massage, right opposite Wat Senesouk where the monks go crazy on the drums at 4 just as our treatment started - fab!
We then walked to Hotel Victoria where they had a free showing (you had to buy a drink) of Chang, a movie made in 1925 about a family living in the jungle of Northern Siam. It was made by the Directors of the original King Kong. Amazing insight into life in the jungle less than 100 years ago, blown away by it! We then walked to our fav restaurant for dinner, and then a little bar crawl on the way back.
Found our stray dog waiting for us so we went and bought some sausages from a street stand and fed her.
Leaving LP tomorrow...
