8/4/18 - Day 71 (Continued)
We arrive at the bus station, the five hour journey was actually ok and the bus comfy (cost around £8.50), after unloading from the coach we use Grab car and our driver turns up in minutes, we’re into George Town in about 15 mins and dropped at our hotel around 6.30 (£2 taxi ride!) so not bad. We have a huge, beautiful room in a place called Muntri Grove. It looks like a former colonial stable block that has been beautifully converted with a pool on the roof-top. J wants to walk to the food market by the sea. We get there and order some satay and some fresh juices. On the way back we stop at George Town Wines, where I sample the house red, my first in a while...
9/4/18 - Day 72
After a very leisurely start, we decide to walk around the main streets of George Town, it’s baking hot but we find a bit of shade when we eventually hit the huge shopping mall. Certainly no where near as up market as KL but nice to wander around all the same. We make our way back out into the daylight, and wind up at an unusual place (I won’t spoil it by telling you where but check the photos) we ended up having a lot of fun (the most fun you can have with your clothes on in public anyway!). Back to our hotel around 5 to relax a bit and we venture out again around the corner to Muntri Mews Cafe. Wonderful food, we’d ordered a set meal, the Redang curry was to die for, we cheekily say we can’t finish it all and ask them if we can go back tomorrow for our dessert, they’re very happy for us to do that! Back to our place to crash...now in a curry coma!
