Greetings! All is well here in Denmark! Last night, our group walked to restaurants on the Nyhavn Canal and ate dinner as the sun was setting on the city. It was a picturesque ending to an eventful first day in Copenhagen.
After a much-needed night’s rest, we started our Saturday with a delicious Danish breakfast at our hotel. At 7:45 AM, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. MacDougal brought roughly half of our travelers on a bike tour of Copenhagen with a local guide, Mike Sommervile. Ms. Rooney and Mr. Nelson took the remaining students sightseeing before their scheduled bike tour at 11 AM (because of the size of our group, splitting up the students for two tours was unavoidable).
The bike tour was incredible- Mike led us through some of Copenhagen’s most beautiful (and historically significant) attractions while showcasing his knowledge of the city and Danish culture. So far, this was many students’ favorite activity.
For Mr. Sullivan and Mr. MacDougal, the bike tour was followed by a leisurely lunch in the Square of Israel, a public gathering space with a pop up flea market and a collection of food vendors. For Mr. Nelson and Ms. Rooney, the bike tour was followed by a lunch at a public mall, the Stroget. It was wonderful. And once again, the weather was pristine.
We’re back at the hotel now gearing up for the next half of the day- a trip to see the Panda Bear exhibit at the Copenhagen Zoo, and then a night at Tivoli Gardens, one of Europe’s oldest amusement parks.
More updates soon! All is well here across the Atlantic.
