Arrived Winton at lunchtime after 2 hour drive. Staying at the 19th century North Gregory Hotel where Waltzing Matilda was first sung in 1895! We got the last spot out the back of the hotel.. $10 bucks a night! Winton is also famous for its dinosaurs and the Jolly Swagman!
Walked around town to see Winton hotel, opal shops, Arnos wall (made of everything incl kitchen sink and great lunch at Tattersalls.
The night started with a bush poet explaining the ins and outs of Waltzing Matilda .. so many theories on the words of the song!! Dinner at the pub with some friends we made and listening to some great live music topped our night off .
