/ Sri Lanka 2024 - finally here!
Saturday 24th February
Our driver turns up at 9.30am later than planned and the journey is an eventful one to the South. We’re heading for Weligama for one night and then moving closer to Galle. The journey takes about 5.5 hours, the roads twist and turn, I can’t read or watch anything but as we didn’t get a lot of sleep last night we doze. J was up early to go and buy snacks for the journey which helped but I was listening to a podcast and dozing on and off. Finally we arrive, we’re staying at a place called Colours of Life, we dump the bags in our room and head down to the beach, it’s a surfer and turtle haven, seeing equal numbers of both bobbing up and crashing around in the waves. We walk along Coconut Beach and then sit for a while watching the surf rolling in with the surfers. It’s fairly peaceful but we’ll be moving on tomorrow, I’m at the stage now where I want to unpack and settle for a few days… this isn’t the place for that but hoping tomorrow’s will be.
