Cooking class today! Another late night, another early start for a tour - when will I learn! 2 other girls from my hostel were going to the same class so we waited to be picked up together. First we went to a market to learn about the different types of ingredients. You can buy koh soi kits for £1.5
Was super tempted to buy some cooking kits here but I need my room in my backpack!! I got split up from the girls in my hostel as they were in a different class and I was mainly with couples for the day but it was okay!
The instructor Luna was so nice and friendly, very enthusiastic! She made sure that everyone had a go at everything and was funny too. I made fresh spring rolls, hot prawn soup, chicken & cashew curry, koh soi, curry paste & mango sticky rice! I ate the first three but got the rest to takeaway!
A cute pic of our group - there were 4 people from Scotland, 2 from Philadelphia and 2 from Poland. One girl did shed actual tears because she wasn’t partnered up with her boyfriend at one point. Quite awkward, and the class had to be rearrange 🫠
Koh soi curry paste - I learnt that the curry paste goes into the wok first and smoothed around before then adding the chicken and the rest of the ingredients - this gives the whole dish more flavour
Once we were back, I regrouped with the girls from my hostel and then 1 of them came with me to do my laundry. We went to Ellie’s hostel for a sunbathe and a lay down as our hostel doesn’t have any sun loungers :(. Ellie and I then went to this enchanted forest restaurant for dinner called Chom
This was shrimp pad Thai, I also had spring rolls. For a fancy restaurant, I was shocked that my total bill only came to £8.49!!! Early bed for me tonight, the hostel are going to a Muay Thai fight but I said no bcos I really need a rest day! Am writing from my hostel bed before I sign off for today
