Hoi An

Vietnam, 09. February 2025
Sunday 9th February

Back at A Bang beach, staying at a lovely hotel we stayed nearly 7 yrs ago, Vina Beach Pool Villas, it’s just as lovely as we remembered. Shame the weather isn’t so good. Went for a walk to the beach and around the lanes that lead to and around the beach, great just to walk and chill and a lot quieter than Hoi An (despite the Karoke which always seems to play a part in the typical Vietnamese Sunday).

Monday 10th February

More walking, weather still not amazing. Went for a reflexology treatment and it was so painful, every organ in my body must have been screaming out in pain! Went back to our room and promptly crashed out. Met up with Aidan & Ruth at The Hill Station in Hoi An and it turns out that they are due to be staying at the hotel we’ve booked in Hue. They’ll be there before us so we may or may not see them again. Went onto The Smokehouse for dinner which was right by the river. Caught a Grab back to An Bang.

Tuesday 11th February

Another grey day but at least it’s not raining and it’s warm(ish). After breakfast we grabbed the bicycles and went for a cycle around the coastline and rice fields, very pleasant. Came across the Badminton club that we played at the other day so we decided to have a game, sadly J beat me but it was fairly close. Back to our hotel for some yoga. Ate at Passion restaurant, very nice.

Wednesday 12th February

This was supposed to be the best day weather wise but sadly it wasn’t. Weather brighter around lunchtime so we walked into Hoi An (about 5km away) then walked round the shops, market. We were also looking for motorbike gloves as J is going to do the Hia Van Pass by motorbike tomorrow to get to Hue. Got back from Hoi An in time for a yoga class and then out to Non Restaurant just up the road from where we’re staying, food good but service and ambience a bit chaotic, we were child-minding the owners 18 mth old toddler!

Thursday 13th February

Leaving Hoi An / A Bang today to travel to Hue (it sounds like Whey). J has organised a moped so he can self drive the journey from here to there, I could go with him on the back but four hours+ is too long on a moped for me so I prefer to take the car option. I’ve booked a place on a vip minivan bus thing so we’ll see how that works out. I need to catch a grab to Hoi An first. Fortunately the bike company have taken our luggage so easy travelling today. We’ve had a very relaxing stay in Hoi An and A Bang just probably a month too early for the really good weather (this is definitely like they’re Spring but still very pleasant by uk standards!).
