Phnom Penh

Cambodia, 12. May 2025
Morning views in the capital - reminding me very much of Bangkok
Cambodian noodles for lunch, not that Van would agree that noodles are Cambodian!
Jacob and I headed to the S21 Prison and Killing Fields. The prison was eery and still had blood on the floor as the cells were preserved from the war
The cells were so tiny and it was scary to think that people lived like this
The memorial outside the prison
Killing fields Pol pot kept this area a secret from the rest of Cambodia and killed thousands of people here
This tree was known as the killing tree - where babies heads were smashed against it before throwing them into graves, so harrowing - when the tree was found after the civil war, there was hair, blood and bones found in the trunk from the brutality of the killings
Bones still arising from the grounds here - the audio speaker said this may be because they can’t rest, so sad
Teeth in these pictures too
Real skulls that were preserved Each has a sticker on them which represented how they were killed
Out on bassac lane after a sad day, a few beers and a dance before home time
