/ Our 7 month USA Road Trip

Kloten – Flughafenstrasse

Schweiz, 01. October 2019
It was Tuesday morning when Lee and I woke up excited that the Day had finally come on which we should jump in a plane and travel the United States of America for 7 months. A lot of people around me acted had reacted astonished and perplexed when I told them I was going to travel North America for 7 months. „How can you afford it?“, „Are you going on a world-trip?“ „That‘s a really long time.“ or „Why not go to the South? That‘s much nicer“ and of course the look of a heartbreak when I told my parents. At the same time we heard things like; „That‘s amazing! It will be the Trip of your Life.“, „If you don‘t do it now, you will never be able to.“, „Wow, you deserve it after your long, intense study period.“, „Great, you‘re doing what you‘ve always wanted to do.“
We began planning this trip around New Year but waited to book the Flights after I graduated in spring (just to be on the safe side). We printed out maps, read reviews, spoke to our friends who had already been to America, planned our whole trip (without booking anything except the first Airbnb), got our B2 Visa in Bern and watched a million youtube videos. You can imagine the excitement rising with every month and finally the Day had come. It‘s crazy how easy it is to hop on a plane and fly onto another continent within hours and actually do what you‘ve been planning to months in advance.
