Paris

France, 01. September 2018
We were not built for economy. The first leg from Perth to Singapore went so quickly. Nic and I decided to be seat buddies and chatted the hours away. The second leg from Singapore to Paris felt like it would never end. Poor Nicole and Mike had issues with their screens and sound throughout the plane trip. They did get a $150 store voucher for the trouble, which they will spend on the flight back. They were actually sitting in or seats so the voucher has matt and my names on it. Score for us! Just kidding, they deserved it after no entertainment.

We took the train in from the airport into Paris and had to navigate our way out of the train station. So many stairs and different levels we had to endure but we found our exit eventually and an enjoyable story to tell now.

We dropped our bags off at the hotel and went for breakfast to wait while the rooms were getting spruced up for us. We strolled along the millions of little streets which all looked like they were from a movie set. I just love the architecture in Paris.

Location Location Location! We are very central and walking distance to everything. An older hotel but worth it for the central position and if you are claustrophobic, then I wouldn’t recommend using the lift. It’s a one person lift and I have never seen one so small. So really, it is a perfect sized lift for me. Nicole takes the stairs and thankfully only on the second floor. We set off to find the Louvre and found Notre Dame along the way.

Notre Dame is ginormous. The outside is so intricate. I was waiting for a gargoyle to pop out with Esmeralda. The queue was very long so we decided not to climb all the way to the top. We might visit again as it’s so close.

As Art was one of the few subjects I enjoyed at school, I was ready to get my art museum fix. Holy moly, it just never ended. We got so lost, so many times and I just don’t understand why you have to go up to go down to then go down to go up. We set a step challenge for the rest of the holiday. The artwork and statues were amazing and I just loved it. The other three were such troopers for ticking all the pieces off my list I had to see. Matt navigated us to the last couple as the wings just never end. I actually thought the Mona Lisa was going to be smaller but pleasantly surprised. We crawled back from the Louvre to get a bite to eat before we rested and perked up for dinner later that night. Well some are resting and others are blogging.

Will have to see what weather is ahead this week as we have a lot on the cards for Paris.

Au Revoir!
