Day 3:. Florence, Italy. Our first trip on the bullet train took us to the center of Renaissance art. We took the day to climb the Duomo built by Brunelleschi and tour the church of Santa Croce where the tombs of Galileo, Machiavelli, Michaelangelo, and many others are located. We saw some paintings that took the kids back to their 9th grade history class and walked to a 1,000 year old church where we literally walked back in time (and watched a serious argument in the church...good story for another day). Enjoyed some great pizza and pasta during the day before returning to Rome to head to Pompeii tomorrow.
