Pichilemu definetly is no picturesque little fishing village or mondane beach resort - but the waves are undoubtedly world class and the people from Pichilemu know how to celebrate new years eve!
We preferred the smaller waves on the second sandbank close to the beach, but some of our hostel-flatmates, drove four days straight from brasil by car to catch some of the beautiful lefts further on the outside!
Surfing till late on christmas eve and welcoming the new year with new friends, fireworks by the sea and open-air live-music till dawn: Life is good!
Hostel Moreno
Ignacio got the house from his grandma and turned it into a hostel you really feel welcome and at home. Paulina, who takes care of the house, is the nicest and sweetest person you could propably ever meet.
There is a beautiful garden - perfect to enjoy the breakfast provided (fresh fruit - I was in heaven!), your own meals - or just relax and cuddle the two cute doggies Anuk and Manchita. Ignacio shares every part of his house - so it doesn't take long until you feel like being at a friends home.

Puente Holandes
A former worldclass windsurfer runs this beautiful restaurant situated right in the dunes overlooking Infernillo beach.
Have a Pisco sour and enjoy the sunset before including in the delicious foods (our favourites: 'Pebre al Pobre' - fish, mussel and (sea)veggie-pot and Manjar Creme Brulee).

An amazing Surf Spot - for the professional surfers out at the rocks, plus some fun waves at the beach to practice.
Watching the sunset from the cliffs is also not to be missed.
No public transport, but a short ride with a colectivo (shared taxi) gets you there in a couple of minutes from Pichilemu center.

Pichilemu town surfspot for pros and beginners.
Can get crowded (especially with beginners on the inner sandbanks) as it is a city-beach, but renting a board for a couple of days will get you those emptier early-morning and late-evening waves when surf schools are closed and people still sleeping or already at the dinner table.
