ok, it’s hard to describe Varanasi, but we´ll try:

Varanasi is the holiest place for all hindus and it seems to be a place showing the initially mentality and culture of India. The ganga is taking dead bodies, is the source for sanctity and cleanse from sin. With its light blue to grey shimmering color its not looking like a river lost in mud. We were walking by the ghats, seeing rituals which did´t change for hundreds of years. The spiritual power caught us and everything seemed natural in a way.

If you´re just looking for a typical indian city, don´t visit Varanasi. The streets are more packed than any other city in India we visited … and it’s louder and dirtier! … the smell of the poo of hundreds of cows, donkeys, goats and dogs living in the small streets is hard to bear. But nevertheless we had an unforgettable time.
