Ushuaia claims to be the southernmost city in the world. Fact is there are just a handful settlements that are closer to the south pole.
The weather is unpredictable - we got a taste of what "rough and windy" means down here during a boat trip on the Beagle Channel. Our boat was rather small and the wind got stronger from minute to minute. A lot of the passengers got seasick. We still enjoyed the trip a lot on the upper deck outside and were very lucky that we brought wind- and rainproof clothing! The trip got canceled after an hour because of waves getting too big and winds getting too strong, but we d already been lucky enough to see a lot of cormorants, sea lions and other sea animals - plus experiencing the wild sea and force of nature was indescribably beautiful!
Just a fews hours later we had a beautiful hike up to Martial Glacier just above Ushuaia - in plain sunshine with amazing views on the Beagle Channel - what a stunning day!
