Canberra - Day
CANBERRA

After a three hour trip, we finally arrived in our hotel room, which we booked on last hand, but luckily everything went right. We are staying at one of the most fabulous hotels we have been. It’s called the “Novotel Canberra”. The city view we have from our windows is just a dream. There’s of course free Wi-Fi, Key card access and a 24-hour front desk, so if there’s a problem, even at night, there’ll always be someone to help. Not to forget the epic wellness-area, which has of course multiple swimming and- whirlpools, a massage room and lots of more. We booked to rooms, so us girls could share one and Tolga has his private room. I mean we are close, but still there’s boundaries set from each of us. What needs to be added is that we spend most of the time together in “the girls-room” because firstly we had the nicer, bigger and luxuries room, we had a balcony and it was more practically that he just jumps into our room, as if we three had to go over to his. But the rooms are just lovely. All the rooms had Air-conditioner, which was useful, because it was really hot outside. Since Australia is verbatim on the other side of the world, we fled from the cold weather in Germany, to Australia, where the weather is literally at 90 degrees.
I slept badly the first night because of the wild night.

Nevertheless, the following day was nice. The rest of us all slept in comfort and then went to the hall for breakfast. Because we booked all-inclusive, we filled our stomachs properly. Because Canberra is the capital of Australia, we were even more excited to finally get to know Canberra better, even though we were only staying here for five days. In Canberra there are more historical and for sports-lovers’ sights. But this was not a problem for us, as we are all interested in the history of Australia, and Canberra in particular.
So, we visited two museums on our first day. The first was the Canberra Museum and Gallery. It is located on the London Circuit in the city Centre and was opened on 13th February 1998. The museum deals with the art and history of Canberra and the surrounding area. We spent hours there. Afterwards we would normally have gone to a cafe or something, but we just sat down in front of the museum to rest our legs and then went straight on to another museum. We went to the National Dinosaur Museum. And spoiler alert, this was one of our favorites’. It is the largest exhibition of prehistoric finds in the southern hemisphere. It shows the evolution of life, with a focus on dinosaurs. And I think everyone is aware of how cool dinosaurs are. After spending seven hours in these museums, it was already evening, and we set off in search of a restaurant or something similar. And after a short time, we came across a burger joint right nearby. We were so relieved and since we had eaten nothing all day except an apple, two dry sandwiches and a bit of water, we each treated ourselves to two typical fat "Aussie burgers". Afterwards we made our way back to the hotel as quickly as possible and all fell into bed deadly tired.

We all slept very soundly and as we didn't think to set an alarm clock, all four of us slept well into the afternoon. When we went down to the hall, breakfast was long gone, and lunch was being served. We had Vegemite on toast which was delicious. And as much as I know it’s a quite common meal. It was around 4pm so we decided to go for a walk to digest our food. We passed several sheep meadows, and it was pretty nice. We found a beautiful meadow and Liv had the good idea that we should just have our dinner as a picnic in one of these meadows. So, me and Luise quickly went into town and got everything for the picnic, while liv and Tolga took care of the rest, like getting a picnic blanket for example.

The following day we had the great idea of having a wellness day, which was good for us. Tolga was not so enthusiastic at first, but I think he liked it a lot in the end. We had a massage, went to the jacuzzi, did a few laps in the swimming pool and then we did our skincare. It was so relaxing. Since it was all-inclusive, we used everything the wellness-area as much as we could. My favorite part was for sure the sauna. I spend like 4hours in there, even though I’m pretty sure that is not that healthy.

On our last day, we decided to go to the city center again, because we haven't seen the main sights yet. First, we walked a bit haphazardly through the city, but then we set out to find the most famous buildings. What I personally find great is that although Canberra is a capital city, you really see a lot of green, which is by the way also quit relaxing for your eye. But what we all noticed right away is that the capital of Australia looks very organized and by no means dirty. It all seemed so artificial, geometric and reserved.
Although Canberra seems strange, there are despite all the great sights. And I tell you, from the Australian War Memorial you have a great view of the wide ANZAC Parade and over Lake Burley Griffin. In the distance is the imposing government building. All geometric, of course. Canberra is laid out around Lake Burley Griffin and is divided by it into two areas. The southern part is dominated by Parliament House and other public buildings. The northern part forms the city center with many restaurants, cafes and shopping. Most of Canberra's attractions are located around Lake Burley Griffin and many of them are within walking distance. So we just decided to walk around the lake a bit.
As our last day was coming to an end, we finally decided to move into our hotel room to pack our last things and finally got to bed
