Our first stop was the cafe, where there were some very bold sparrows after our tea and pasty. A male chaffinch happily sat in the sun.

Valhalla is an anglicised name for the Old Norse, Valholl, meaning hall of the slain. This collection of figureheads and name boards date from the middle and end of the 19th century and mainly come from merchant sailing vessels or early steamships wrecked on the rocky coasts of Scilly
The tradition of carved human or animal forms to decorate the bow of a boat dates back 3,000 years and is part of a greater collection now cared for by the National Maritime Museum. The collection also includes this cannon, and a 17th century Cresset Lighthouse fire basket, St Agnes.
