Hiking in Sapa was amazing! We trekked 14-16km each day for 3 days and stayed overnight in homestays in the local villages (more pictures of the people & homestays in the next post).

The 1st day was straight uphill and very foggy, but it felt good to break a sweat and stretch the legs. It felt like nothing after some of my more recent hikes in NZ!

The second day was absolutely gorgeous! We lingered at the homes spray until about 11am (big time hangovers for some!) and then walked downhill for most of the day to our next homestay.

The third day was a bit cloudy, but nothing like the first day. At first, our guide promised we could do 3-4 hours of trekking close to the village in the morning, eat lunch at our homestay and then take motorbikes back to Sapa Town in the afternoon; but they decided that was too far on motorbike so instead we walked uphill back to the first homestay. That was a tough climb!
