Mud bath in Nha Trang today!
I arrived too late in the day to join in on any of Nha Trang's popular booze cruises & scuba/snorkel tours and I wasnt ready for another beach day after Hoi An, so I went about 5km out of town to a "resort" that specializes in mud baths. For US$19, I got 20 minutes in a mud bath, 20 minutes in a mineral pool, lunch and the ability to explore other pools within the complex.
The mud itself was WAY thinner than I expected. It was really no thicker than water, but was heated to a good temperature so it was relaxing. I honestly didn't feel a difference in my skin afterwards - not sure if that's the results of cheap mud for stupid tourists or if mud baths are all hype. Either way, it was fun to splash around in the mud a bit!
The mineral pool was a tub of scalding hot water which smelled AMAZING because of whatever minerals they dumped on. It was way too hot to sit in comfortably but luckily Drunk Tessa called on FaceTime which gave me the perfect excuse to get out!
I'm now getting a pedicure (for US$6!) and the lady has given me what looks like yoghurt? Weird.
I never had any interest in coming to Nha Trang, as most of the other travelers I've met said its just a beach town, and not a very good beach at that. Having been here for 12 hours, I completely agree! It's hugely popular with Russian tourists and I've only met one westerner all day.
