Trekking in Dalat today! I went with a guide and 2 other tourists to the peak of Mount Lang Bien which is the tallest mountain in Vietnam's Central highlands at 2,167m
It was a super steep & slippery incline, but the views at the top were amazing. The first & last parts of the hike were in mostly unmarked paths through the forest, so I was grateful to have a guide. About 8km of the walk was on an actual track and we saw a few other people - including a poor Korean man in an all white jumpsuit who slipped & fell in the mud, Our guide gave us fruit & bahn mi for lunch when we reached the peak, but I recently made the mistake of actually looking at the meat they put into bahn mi and now I'm not really sure how I feel about them... We also saw some wild horses on the trek, which was pretty cool.
It was great to have a day that was physically challenging after so many days on the beach in Hoi An & Nha Trang. I'd probably rate the hike as a 'Roy's Peak' by NZ standards - reasonably tough and I'll sleep well tonight, but not too bad.
