Isles Of Scilly

United Kingdom, 10. July 2023
Very high winds over high winds overnight had been forecast, so many boats had spent time at low tide putting out extra anchors and digging them in. Confident with our Bruce anchor, Kevin let our more chain. Another rough and windy night (apart from the spell we sat on the sand at low tide).
And then it rained and rained. A contrast to the beautiful day yesterday. We worked, and Kevin calculated whether the new size Calor gas canister will fit in our gas locker when we change our current one (the 4.5kg butane cylinder has been replaced by a 7kg one).
At low(ish) tide we decided to walk to the crab shack before it closed.
All Saints’ Bryher, the most westerly church in England was built and enlarged in 1822.
Stained glass made by Oriel Hicks from the Pheonix Studio was inserted in 2007. Genesis 1:20. And God said, “Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life…
…and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven”.
Matthew 6:28-29. “Behold the lilies of the field how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin…”
…”And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these”.
Returning with our supper, a delicious selection of crab bisque, crab quiche, fish cake and salad.
Inspecting the anchor and chain.
As it was still pouring with rain all evening, we finally watched Wimbledon.
